The objective of the award is to encourage journalists to master the entire production and tell themselves gripping stories. Although the stakes are high, so is the reward: the winner will receive 10,000 Euro in prize money.

The prize-giving ceremony will take place in The International Press Centre La Résidence Palace in Brussels (Belgium) on June 7th 2006, in the presence of Ms. Viviane Reding, European Commissioner for information society and media.

Conditions for participation:

  • Each entry has to be a ‘news item’, made by a videojournalist.
  • The news item has to be broadcasted by a newsnetwork in Europe (in 2005 or before April 15th 2006).
  • The item may not take more than 5 minutes.
  • It must be subtitled in English (even if the language of the item is English).
  • We also would like to know ‘the context’ of the item. So please send us also the ‘intro’ as shown in the news bulletin.
